Del Mccoury to Jam With the Preservation Hall Jazz Band at Blue Ox

Eric Christenson |

It’s only the Blue Ox Music Festival’s second year ever, and they’ve already got the likes of bluegrass legend Del McCoury wanted in for round two. McCoury graced the Whispering Pines campground with his deft, rootsy tunes during last year’s inaugural – and muddy – weekend. Not only is he returning for this year’s fest on June 9-11, but he and his band are bringing some members of the world-renowned Preservation Hall Jazz Band to join them on the Blue Ox stage. It’s an exciting development for the budding bluegrass/roots festival, which is quickly becoming one of the best for the genre in the whole country. The lineup also includes big names like Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Railroad Earth, Sam Bush, and Blitzen Trapper. Now, let’s just hope it doesn’t rain this year, eh?
