UWEC’s annual Danceworks showcases bodies in motion

Nikki Lanzer |

The Department of Music and Theatre Arts at UW-Eau Claire will present its annual Danceworks production May 5-7. Just in time for Mother’s Day weekend, the concert will take place Thursday through Saturday at 7:30pm in the Kjer Theatre of the university’s Haas Fine Arts Center. Under the direction of Julie Fox, the program will feature the Dance Ensemble – the Dance Minor Program’s premiere group – in a selection of modern dance and theater performances. Through works commissioned by both national and local artists, including Fox herself, each piece will offer a fresh perspective on the evolving world of dance. Ranging in style from theatrical to improvisational, this year’s lineup will include a variety of group performance that explore contemporary rhythm and movement. With every routine, audiences will be treated to innovative choreography and compelling drama.
