Manipulating The Spectrum” by Jesse Aylsworth
mixed media on canvas, 36” x 36”

Jesse Aylsworth is a mixed media visual artist and a painting and drawing bachelor of fine arts student.

“‘Manipulating the Spectrum’ was a reaction to a large 4’ x 8’ diptych that I had been painting on intensely for three months. After I finished that painting, I stretched, primed, and painted this canvas over the course of one weekend. I could visualize the finished piece in my head, and much of my process functions that way. I get an idea and attempt to obsessively bring it into reality as quickly as possible for fear of losing the original creative spirit. ‘Manipulating the Spectrum’ and other paintings of mine focus on surface and light. My paintings are often textured and have reflective, iridescent or holographic elements which shift the observer’s perception based on their viewing position relative to the work of art.” – The Artist
