Orchestra Has a Tale for Your Family

Barbara Arnold |

Want to introduce the whole family to the wonderful world of classical music? In the Chippewa Valley, there’s no better way than the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra’s annual “ECCO Tells the Tale” concert. This year, the concert – subtitled “Around the World in 50 Minutes,” will be held at 2pm Saturday, Jan. 23, at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand Ave., Eau Claire. Yuri Ivan from the Kenwood Symphony will be the guest conductor. ECCO also will welcome Keith Thompson on trumpet, Christa Garvey on oboe, and Don Weibel as narrator. The fun-filled family concert features a variety of pieces transporting the audience to many eras and places in music with the help of composers ranging from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Dave Brubeck. Best of all, the concert will be followed by an instrument “petting zoo” held by the Memorial High School Orchestra. Visit Eau Claire and Wisconsin Arts Board sponsors this concert, and while there is no charge, donations are welcome.
