UW-Stout will have a new “chief academic officer” beginning this summer. Patrick Guilfoile will become the Menomonie-based university’s provost and vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs on July 1. Guilfoile, who holds a master’s degree from UW-Eau Claire and a doctorate from UW-Madison, is currently associate vice president of Academic Affairs at Bemidji State University in Minnesota. “Following a national search, Patrick emerged as the candidate with the right educational background, academic experience and higher education vision to help guide UW-Stout in this complex and challenging environment,” UW-Stout Chancellor Bob Meyer said in an announcement. As provost, Guilfoile will oversee academic and student affairs, including curriculum, assessment, planning and development, enrollment, academic budgeting, accreditation, and other functions. He will replace Jackie Weissenburger, who has held the job on an interim basis since 2013.
