“Finch in Spring” by Andrea Avery and Patsy Vork
Ink, oil, acrylic, paper on wood, 12” x 12”

Patsy Vork is a rosemaling artist and retired public school teacher who works and lives in Chetek.

Andrea Avery is an artist and community arts coordinator at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center who lives and works in Sheboygan.

"This work is part of collaborative series of paintings between two artists who lived in the small town of Chetek and shared a love for nature and the Scandinavian style of painting called rosemaling. The artists have known one another since Avery was in elementary school and Vork was a teacher. Each artist has her own style but admired the other’s talents, so from this a collaborative project and long-lasting friendship was born. Each artist responds to the piece the other person creates ending in an intricate collaboration that celebrates nature and the beauty of the people and the state they both reside in and love." – The Artists

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a letter.
