Damned Good Print Show Rockin' at UW-Stout

Erica Quinnies |

Rock ’n’ roll may be damned, but judging by a UW-Stout print show influenced by 1970s and ’80s album art, it will never die. With the skills of 21 artists from across the nation, many featured in some of the country’s most well-respected art magazines, it’s sure that Rock and Roll Damnation will not disappoint. The exhibit consists of art reflecting bands, record covers, and even lyrics from rock classics, all created using a variety of printmaking methods including lithographs, woodcuts, intaglios, and screenprints, says Joseph Velasquez, assistant professor in the UW-Stout School of Art and Design. The exhibit runs through Oct. 24 in the Furlong Gallery at UW-Stout in Menomonie. Hours are 10am to 6pm Mondays through Wednesdays and Fridays; 10am to 7pm Thursdays; and noon to 4pm on weekends. At no cost, it’s certainly worth a visit to view these creations of rock ’n’ roll glory.
