The Return of the Rock-N-Roll Kickball Classic

Thom Fountain |

It’s back, baby. After a year hiatus, the much-begged-for Rock-n-Roll Kickball Classic will return this September in all its glory. The two day festival and kickball tournament will run Friday and Saturday Sept. 6-7 at Cinder City Park in Altoona and will feature – besides kicking red inflatable balls all over the field – live music, beer, food, beanbags, and other hijinks to wrap up the summer. Roughly seven bands will rock across the weekend, so watch for the announcement of who those will be soon. Registration is active now at VolumeOne.org/kickball, where you can also see photos and videos from past years’ events and hear what previous players had to say. Teams are signing up fast and grabbing their choice of matching shirt colors (which each team member gets with registration). The sign-up closes on Aug. 22 at 6pm so don’t lollygag too long – just get a team on the list and figure out the roster later. Teams must be age 21+. But you don’t have to play to party: Anyone can get this gig on their calendar and just come for the fun – and there’s plenty to be had. You can register or find more info at VolumeOne.org/Kickball.
