“Switchbacks” by Elizabeth Gengenbach
Acrylic on paper, 9” x 12”, 2012

Elizabeth Gengenbach is an Eau Claire native who moved back to the area after several years of wandering to help care for her 96 year old rockin’ cool grandmother.

“I grew up playing in and around the Chippewa River, and in my years of travel it’s the one thing I missed most about life in the Valley. One downfall to living all over the U.S. is that, no matter where you are, there’s always something you long for desperately from each place you’ve been. This painting was inspired by my intense love for the river and my feelings of yearning for the mountains of Oregon, where I was living prior to my return to Wisconsin. I plan to sell prints of my works locally, donating a portion of the proceeds to the Eau Claire Humane Society. My rescue dogs, Jax and Toby, have played a huge role in my wanderings.” – The Artist

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a letter.
