Time to De-trash the Forest

Tom Giffey |

The heavy-duty junk – stuff like tires, appliances, and even hazardous waste –  illegally dumped in the Eau Claire County Forest has prompted a heavy-duty cleanup. The Our Land Subcommittee of the Eau Claire County Parks and Forest Citizen Advisory Committee is holding a cleanup from 9am to 1pm Saturday, April 27, which will be based at the Tower Ridge Recreation Area on Highway L in the town of Seymour. Volunteers should note  this isn’t  a walk in the park: They should be ready for strenuous activity; wear hiking boots, work gloves, and  appropriate clothing; and bring water bottles. Volunteers will be fed after the event, which will be held rain or shine. For more information, email jbadciong@yahoo.com.
