“Bringen Die Kinder Der Dunkleheit Ans Licht”
six-color stone lithograph drawn w/ grease pen,
13.25” x 19.5,” by Dan Gerlach

Dan Gerlach is a Graphic Designer/Printmaker he is currently in his final semester at the UW-Stout. He combines his design skills with printmaking because of the unique aesthetic hand-printed art has.

“This pieces follows the theme of “A celebration of life.”  I am interested in the diversity of deep-sea creatures; there rarity lends them a mythical quality, I paired a sea goddess to enforce that idea. I have always been inspired by mythology and legends; they hold some vestige of truth in the grey area where my inspiration is drawn. The versatility and production quantity of printmaking distinguishes it from other mediums. Also the aesthetic of hand-printing design/art has an unmistakable visual appeal. I primarily work on limestone for my lithographs, but I also do relief prints and screen-printing.” – The Artist
