“Friendly Neighbor” by Anna Kaiser
polymer clay, wood, and found objects, 11.25” x 20.5”, 2012

Anna Kaiser just finished watching the 1987 HBO special The Return of Bruno. She will never think of Bruce Willis the same way again.

“Friendly Neighbor is one of five three-dimensional bird pieces on display in the Two Lives in Art show at the Volume One Gallery.  Inspiration for the bird series was brought upon by my desire to build a large-scale bird feeder.  When I began constructing the ‘bird buffet’ I started to envision all the different species that would be flying in to grab a bite.  My project from then on was to sculpt these birds at my feeder and create images to best describe them.  If you would like to see more of my work stop by www.annakaiser.net.” – The Artist

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a letter.
