Michael Perry has been well known nationally as a writer for a while now. His previous books, like Population 485 and Truck: A Love Story, have been critically acclaimed and widely distributed around the country. But Perry’s newest release Visiting Tom – which was released in August – hit a whole new high for the New Auburn author. The book reached the New York Times’ Best Seller list, hitting #21 for hardcover nonfiction on the Sept. 9 list, two weeks after it was released. The book also got a favorable review from the Wall Street Journal, among other publications. Perry’s success with each new book is only mildly surprising after seeing what he’s done in the past, but to be placed on the top list in the country is nothing to balk at.
