You’ll notice in the opening letter in this issue that we’ve added a new voice to the staff of Volume One. As of this week, we’re excited to welcome Tom Giffey to our staff of editors. While he’s new to our pages, there are a number of ways you may already be familiar with Tom. Chief among them are his 13 years at the Leader-Telegram covering the Chippewa Valley from many perspectives ranging from business to politics, as well as penning hundreds of columns and editorials on both the hard and softer sides of news. He’s also the president of the Western Wisconsin Press Club, has spent many a morning offering punditry on local morning show radio waves, and has served on community boards ranging from Literacy Volunteers-Chippewa Valley to Friends of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library. Plus, he’s the consistent top vote-getter in the “Best Newspaper Writer” category of our annual Best Of the Chippewa Valley Reader Poll. Tom will join in alongside our existing staff to plan issues, write stories, and work with contributors to keep building Volume One’s print, web, and mobile presence in our community.
