Cannibal Corpse on the Way

Luke Hoppe |

Later this month the House of Rock is teaming up with True Endeavors, an event management company based out of Madison, WI, to put on one of the most face melting concerts in the Chippewa Valley this year. On Nov. 20 Cannibal Corpse will be headlining, complemented with a multitude of other death metal bands. Since they first burst onto the scene in 1990 with their album Eaten Back to Life they have been widely regarded as being the best when it comes to death metal music. Though late in their career the band put out Torture within the last year which boasted their thrashing skill set that they have so masterfully refined through years of touring experience. The other bands are no slouch when it comes to the death metal genre, either. Micawber – native to Two Rivers – released an album last year, but it varies in the traditional death metal sound that Cannibal Corpse has built a career off of. The band instead uses a unique sound they coined “Deathrash” that was influenced by “everything from Whitesnake to Vital Remains,” according to their MySpace bio. The Italian death metal band, Hour of Penance, put out an album earlier this year and immediately came to America after the release and has been touring with the group ever since. Misery Index rounds out the night with another uncommon sound combining both traditional death metal and grindcore (a cross between metal and hardcore punk). With an ensemble fit to create a mosh capable of literally bring The House down, Cannibal Corpse and company will surely be marked down in any resident metal heads calendar. Pre-order tickets are available at The House of Rock and Trucker’s Union for $18, but can also be purchased at the door for $20.
