The Purpose

spiritual encounter spurs Jerome Wolcott’s debut

Taylor Kuether |

Jerome Wolcott began his spiritual journey at age six, he said. Now, through his book The Purpose of My Vision, that journey is charted all the way through 2011.

“I must say, emphatically, I’m not an overly religious man, and I’ve had many questions and doubts regarding religious teaching,” said Wolcott, who has lived in Eau Claire for the past six years. After several spiritual events impacted Wolcott’s life, he was compelled to write about them, explaining each occurrence in detail throughout the book.

“My greatest challenge was putting my story into words,” Wolcott said. “I had never imagined myself as an author.”

Wolcott said his daughter-in-law, Julie Wolcott, assisted with the editing process, and the book was ultimately published through Outskirts Press in Parker, Colo. The Purpose of My Vision was released in late November.
Wolcott hopes readers keep an open mind as they read his book. “My goal is that it will make them think and open their hearts to prayer,” said Wolcott. “In the quietness of prayer and mediation is where I hope they, as I did, can find some inner peace and rest.”
