Where Books, Music, and Dancing Collide

Anna Semanko |

Music, dance and reading … what do these things have in common? Maybe not much, but local families will get the chance to put them together on Saturday, March 10. As part of Jazz Fest, the Jump, Jive, and Read program gives kids ages preschool to first grade and their families a chance to get jiggy at Ramada Convention Center (10am). Toni Poll-Sorenson, a retired UWEC dance professor who was recruited to assist with the program because of her dedication to the integration of the arts into education, says, “It will be an hour-and-a-half of exploring music, dance, and books in small groups with an emphasis on fun.” Prior to the event there will also be volunteer training programs for anyone who wants to get involved.
