You may have heard rumblings in the underground world of restaurant franchising, and now Volume One can finally confirm what you’ve been waiting to hear: Eau Claire is getting a Chipotle. Ayres Associates confirmed that they are heading up the construction of a Chipotle (with Commonweal Development) to be built in the Oakwood Mall area where the current A&W resides. This news is sure to have both fans of socially conscious food and fans of burritos the size of their head in a tizzy. There is no word on what this could potentially mean for our own local current kings of the mega-burrito, Burrachos, but I’d like to think we live in a world where two places stocked full of cheese and pinto beans can peacefully coexist. I mean, if Domino’s and Pizza Hut can do it, anyone can.
