If you're serious about starting Pilates at home then you need to know a few things before you begin. You can't just jump into an exercise regime without making the proper preparations and having a game plan. Most people who say they're going to start working on something never do. 1) Get the equipment: If you're serious about starting Pilates at home then you need the necessary equipment to begin with a bang. You don't need much (don't worry) but you do need the basics. You will need to get a yoga mat or something similar. You don't want to use a towel as you will need more protection than that. Try find one at a local shop or similar. If you don't have comfortable, loose fitting clothes then it's also advisable you purchase a small collection of them. You don't want to be exercising in baggy clothes or super tight jeans. Be practical when you purchase your exercising clothes.

2) Purchase a Pilates DVD: If you're going to be exercising at home you need to purchase a Pilates DVD for your collection. You can find quite a large selection online but always make sure that you go with the best reviewed option. There are a lot of Pilates DVDs circulating online but do research before purchasing it. See what each DVD offers and if you will get the most out of that DVD. The DVDs should be easy to watch and easy to follow. It's also an added bonus if there is relaxing music coupled with the DVD so that while you practice the exercises with the DVD... you can still enjoy some relaxing music.

3) Make a Plan of Action: The worst way to start off a resolution to start exercising is not to make a plan of action. Making a plan of action is critical to your success. Don't start off saying you will exercise every day as that might not be possible. Be realistic about the goals you can achieve. If you start doing Pilates at home you should aim for exercising three times a week. Once your get used to this amount of exercise you can pick it up to everyday. Pilates can be relaxing and intensive depending on the exercises you pick.

Making the decision to start doing Pilates at home is a fantastic idea. Especially since there are so many benefits that you can get from the decision. It might sound like it is a difficult thing to do but if you follow our three easy steps you'll be ready in no time. Just remember that whenever you start an exercising plan you need to have a plan that you will follow through with til the end.
