As part of the upcoming L.E. Phillips library discussion series “Cutting Edge Women,” participants will explore pop culture’s educated crime-fighting women. Former UWEC English professor Gloria Hochstein will be lead the discussion, which is co-sponsored by the library, the UWEC English Department, and the Elizabeth G. Morris Scholarship Fund. Dates for the sessions are January 26, February 9 and 23, and March 9, with registration required for all sessions. A discussion on the evolution of female detectives in mystery novels will start the series on January 26. Protagonists from Agatha Christie to Sara Paretsky novels will be addressed. Books to be discussed at each of the later sessions include: Body of Evidence by Patricia Cornwell, Fatal Voyage by Kathy Reichs, and Body Double by Tess Gerritsen. All three books are available for check-out at the library.
