A Little of This, and a Little of That

Tangled Up in Hue exhibition from artist Cortney Stoner

Carp-tastic work from Cortney Stoner.

Tangled Up In Hue has earned a reputation for showcasing one of its 82 talented local artists for a month at a time, and in the coming month local artist on the rise Cortney Stoner and her artistic creations take a turn. A former UW-Stout student, Stoner graduated in 2008 with a graphic design degree and minor in digital photography. Her month-long show is entitled A Little of This, and A Little of That, and displays art mainly created within the last year, as much of the art generated before that time was lost in a fire at her childhood home. The show itself showcases – you guessed it – a little bit of everything, ranging from paintings on canvas and wood carvings to serigraphy prints, photographs, and a myriad of other media. Her art has been on display – on a much smaller scale – at Tangled Up In Hue since September of last year, where she has earned a reputation for her paintings and carvings of trees (one of said pieces placed in the library’s ArtsWest show). Stoner said, “My trees are all over town, and even one in New York.” Stoner’s art exhibition reception will also feature live music by The Blue Room.
