Just a quick heads up on the newest addition to the Volume One family – a flat-faced, bright red, 1967 Chevy cargo van. Previously dubbed “Lucille,” this van has been meticulously cared for and customized over the years. We bought it off the hands of a talented photographer from the Menomonie area and plan to use it for our various events and public appearances. Think of it like one of those obnoxious radio vehicles, except way older, way cooler, and without all the overload on promotional graphics. So why a vintage cargo van? As our roster of community events has grown (the Concert Series, Cinema Series, Chalkfest, Kickball Classic, etc., etc.), it’s become difficult to maintain sanity with all our stuff (tents, tables, tons of gear, etc) getting moved into and out of the front door of our office a couple times a week. So this van will help us out a lot, and naturally we’re pretty excited about that. But as to why we’d get such an old one, well… we just might be gluttons for punishment. (That said, if you know a great mechanic for old-timers like Lucille, let us know.) Regardless, watch for the van the rest of this summer at our events, or just out tooling around town for whatever reason. I’m sure we’ll find an excuse to get it out as often as we can.
