Steve Bateman returns to Tangled Up in Hue this month with a show entitled Posters & Pin-Ups. As the owner of Postergirl Art, he has designed and created a dynamic collection of screen-printed posters. Many were created for local events and reflect Bateman’s collaboration with bands and other designers over time. Complimenting these works is a collection of art pieces inspired, but not defined by, classic 1950s pin-up posters. “The format of the pinup is the language I am using to for the exploration of what’s beautiful and sexy,” says Bateman. “With this comes an element of responsibility not to just show what the media considers beautiful, but to have a variety of different shapes, sizes, and attitudes of women.” The show will feature over 100 different pieces, most of which will be for sale, with prices ranging from a five spot to $75. The opening will be Friday, March 12.
