At this point we can’t be certain the new year would come if the House of Rock didn’t throw its annual New Years Eve Bash. The longtime tradition has become as much of a staple in Chippewa Valley New Years celebrations as champagne and Auld Lang Syne, and the party to usher in 2010 looks to trump all others. What could honestly be better than watching REM perform in Eau Claire when that clock strikes midnight? How about watching The Jim Pullman Band play a full set of REM songs? Pullman’s cover sets are always unforgettable, and you can top that off with a long lineup of local faves that includes irresistible Amble Down indie-pop-rockers Meridene and the hard hitting post-rock group, FanOffBirdSafe. Ben Hinz’s experimental noise and ambient rock outfit, Aen, will also make a rare appearance, as well as ex-Silvering singer Jonathon Seeley’s solo project. A list of newer bands from the Chippewa Valley rounds out the night, including punkers Fall For Glory, acoustic-folk-pop project More Amore, and the debut of Made By Failure, featuring members of local nü metal band Knowing Jobe.
