Music and Film Festival Returns to Stillwater

Gillian Ekern |

Square Lake Film and Music Festival in Stillwater is an all-day camping, biking, watching, listening, ode to local short films fast approaching on Aug. 15. Each year the festival kicks off at 1:30 pm and screens 35 to 40 short films throughout the day. Films include experimental and animation and are shown in an indoor theater during the day and then moved outside once it is dark. Between screenings musical performers such as Charlie Parr play sets on an outdoor stage. Festivalgoers are also encouraged to bike the distance to Stillwater in order to receive a discount on tickets varying on distance traveled. Continuing its eight-year-long tradition, the festival will show a silent film with a film score performed by one of the visiting bands.
