An old favorite has made a triumphant return to Eau Claire area watering holes. Walter’s beer, an Eau Claire based brew dating back to the 1890s, has been recently re-released by Northwoods Brewpub and Grill. The brewmaster designed the beer to resemble the original as closely as possible – all the way down to the label. Because enough time has passed since the beer was last brewed, the same label will be used. According to an article in the Leader-Telegram, Northwoods brewmaster Tim Kelly assembled a panel of “experts” to taste test the brew to help precisely replicate the taste of the original. The beer can already be found in various area locales on tap as well as in bottles.
