Ed Gein: So Dramatic

(The Musical)

For those with Badger state pride, a musical inclination, and a healthy fascination with the outlandish, a new film being shot in Omro is sure to please. Ed Gein: The Musical, a melodic take on the psychotic serial killer from Plaineville, will be released to DVD by the end of this year. Inspired by the humor of Sweeny Todd, the Oshkosh-based production team and local cast have turned a disturbing part of our state’s past into an historically accurate re-singing (so-to-speak) of the life and crimes of Gein. Revelations that Gein had dug up graves, fashioned objects from human skin and body parts, and dangled a gutted human corpse from the rafters in his shed terrified the citizenry of 1950s Wisconsin, and Gein has continued to inspire horror writers and filmmakers since. Ed Gein: The Musical, however, takes it a step further by promising a disturbingly catchy soundtrack with lyrics like, “You will have a look that’s made/I’m gonna make you into my next lampshade,” all performed by a man with a very strong Wisconsin accent. A trailer featuring a few musical teasers can be viewed at VolumeOne.org right now!
