The life of a hitchhikin’ minstrel ain’t easy.

Parents, do you want hands-on, outdoor, free fun for the kids? Art enthusiasts, are you looking for something to do Wednesday nights for the same cost as a lemonade? (OK, so $3 bucks would be a high-end lemonade stand.) Well the Heyde Center’s got you all covered with its Chill on the Hill and Wednesday Night Concert series. Starting with Tuesday night Chill on the Hill, parents and kids can enjoy “45-minute presentations by area artists and performers who share their love of an instrument, a style of music, dance, and other types of artistic expression and/or cultural activity.” A sneak peek for cooking with Deb Johnson can be experienced July 28, and a few of the many other intriguing displays to come are painter Norkio Slowinski on June 16 and guitarist Greg Gilbertson on June 30. On Wednesday evenings, come support local, talented performers for the entire summer, at the same time kicking back with friends and family for the stop-and-smell-the-roses fun that summer is made for. Anna Johnson opens the series June 17 at 7 pm. Her music is a funky mixture of folk, pop, country, and acoustic rock. Others to continue the fun are Four Shillings Short (July 8) and Casey and Joe (August 12), to name a few. For more detailed information, including the lineups, for each series, vist www.cvca.net.
