The (Taxidermy) Six Pack

six of the weirdest once-living items at downtown Eau Claire’s Antique Emporium

1. TWO-HEADED CALF
The two-headed calf, not a goat, is the real deal. No, seriously, it’s real. The Emporium got it from New Jersey.

2. HYENA
According to rumor, if you stare into this African meat eater’s glazed eyes long enough, you will not be able to do anything without first watching The Lion King. OK, we made that one up.

3. SKELETON IN A CASKET
This is just a medical skeleton, nothing to worry about. Still weird, though.

4. ALLIGATOR
This full-size alligator started it all. It’s the first stuffed item Emporium owner, Hugh, bought.

5. ELEPHANT EARS
The ears come thanks to George Petty, the original pinup artist for Esquire, who shot the elephant in the 30s.

6. NAUGHTY PARROT
The parrot may not seem strange, but it was once a pet right here in Eau Claire. That was until he got stuffed after reportedly biting the owner’s finger off.
