P.O.S.: Never Better

national artist calls on crewmates and locals for show

Chris Henson |

On Feb. 27, the Never Better tour will be a big bill on a small stage. Besides the sheer number of quality performers lined up, P.O.S. alone is like a nuclear reactor running hot. If he emits half the energy he radiates into First Avenue crowds to the Stones Throw, the roof is going to blow off. Fists will be pumped. Heads will bob. The spray from all the lyrics that are spit will land on your face - and yes, that is a good thing. P.O.S. has gained nationwide respect as he has come up with his Twin Cities crew, Doomtree, and released three solo efforts on the underground hip-hop powerhouse label, Rhymesayers Entertainment. His second album, Audition, received much critical acclaim, and he’s now on tour in support of the latest effort, Never Better. Known for his witty, yet uniquely personal lyrics that sometimes fly through your ears a mile a minute and sometimes float softly on your eardrums, he is a performer that does not disappoint. P.O.S. has called on Doomtree crewmates’ Sims plus Mike Mictlan with Lazerbeak (performing as Hand Over Fist) for support and to fill out the bill. Not to be overlooked are the opening acts: local heroes Frozen Tundra and Fathom MC, who will show the TC boys what the EC hip-hop scene is all about.
