Cameras About to Roll at Beloit Film Festival

Trevor Kupfer |

Last year, with more than 40 filmmakers coming from around the world to attend the Beloit International Film Festival, Moviemaker Magazine called it “the next big thing” and a must-attend event.” This year, its fourth annual, festival organizers have received more than 500 film submissions and confirmation that about 90 filmmakers will be in attendance. So plan a road trip for Feb. 19-22 to rub shoulders with directors, catch the Silent Film Showcase of 1927’s Wings with the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra providing the score, and stay for the awards ceremony as they celebrate animation, documentary, feature, and short films by students, Wisconsinites, and internationals.
