Art Crawl at Banbury Place

glass artists Laurie Bieze, Adam Fuller organize event

On the first weekend in February, 25 local visual artists will fill historic Banbury Place with their creations. The public is invited to tour the “old warehouse,” where several artists maintain studios, and still more will set up camp for the two-day event. Pottery, glass art, pencil drawing, caricature, light show, and sign painting will be just some genres of the visual art to be displayed at the Art Crawl. Demonstrations by potters and glassblowers will reveal the behind-the-scenes action that yields art both beautiful and practical. Eye-catching wares on display will be available for purchase. Fortunately, food will be available to alleviate hunger pains incurred in “art crawling.” Warm refreshments including chili, cornbread, and sweet rolls will be sold by The Community Table and Eau Claire Regional Arts Center, and proceeds will benefit the non-profits. The two creators facilitating the event are stained-glass sculptor Laurie Bieze, and glassworker Adam Fuller, who shares Bieze’s studio in Banbury Place. Bieze, who regards her studio’s shell as a venue that is both unusual and interesting, is thrilled to open up the refurbished industrial structure to the public for the art event. And prime timing of the event puts it, as Bieze said, right “between the Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day.”
