Local Publishes Healthy Cookbook

Trevor Kupfer |

We instinctively know that going on a diet means sacrificing delicious meals for the type of roughage that rabbits subsist on. With the new cookbook Simple Choices for Healthier Eating, local woman Dorie Fink intends to change that perception. Co-authored with Iowa native Sondra Lewis, the book is a guide to making healthier dietary choices and includes more than 200 delicious recipes and 80 meal suggestions (many of them gluten-free, heart-healthy, or vegetarian). The book also includes tips on lowering sodium, fats, and sugar intake, while increasing vegetables, grain, and protein. Fink formerly taught elementary school and jumped into the nutrition game while supporting family members with health problems. The book is available for purchase for about $20 through Canary Connect Publications.
