On The Spot

artists take over State Theatre stage

Thadeus Logan |

“liveART” will consist of 19 artists occupying their own personal 8-by-8-foot stage/art studio inside the theater. Throughout the evening, each will ply their trade, creating an original work of art in front of a live audience. Paintings, quilts, sculptures, prints, collages, pastels, pottery, and blown and stained glass will be created live, allowing all attendees to not only appreciate the works themselves, but also the process and craft behind each piece. And did we mention that each piece of liveART will be on auction? Whilst the artists are hard at work, a silent auction will be open to anyone in attendance. Through the use of clipboards stationed at each artist’s temporary studio, one can bid on a work of art before it has even been fully completed. In this way, one bids not just on a finished, static piece of art, but the experience and memory of being part of its creation. There will be two cash bars and live music to fill out the atmosphere further, and all proceeds will go directly towards the renovation of the State Theatre’s gallery. General expansion and Eau Claire Street access are part of the construction plans, which will make downtown Eau Claire’s art scene more visible and enjoyable. If you have the time to support local artists, the State Theatre, and an event never before seen in the Chippewa Valley area, then go live the liveART experience for yourself.
