Students Find Workforce Gap

Abi Zimmer |

While there's disagreement over the use of "groovy" vs. "sweet," research done by four senior marketing students at UW-Eau Claire indicates that many people do agree on the existence of a generational gap in the workplace, and not much is being done to remedy it. Students Kristin Bender, Laura Cavil, Crystal Maier, and Alissa Van Heel surveyed UWEC alumni and regional employees to discover their perceptions on generational gaps, employers' efforts to address it, the company's image, and the effects of the physical layout of their workplace. From Baby Boomers to Generations X and Y, more than half acknowledged a gap. The students will share their conclusions at the Gen-Con 2008: "Build the Vibe" Conference Oct. 23 in Eau Claire along with four speakers addressing how to create a positive workplace culture.
