After opening its first storefront in the former Water Street Deli last year, California Tacos is making its next move – just down the street. The food truck-turned-storefront will reopen at the former Burrachos and Fast Fuel location, 329 Water St., on Friday, March 22.

California Tacos, a Mexican eatery specializing in birria, tacos, burritos, and other flavorful food items, first embraced its brick-and-mortar move in January 2023. After just over one year at the 628 Water St. spot, the restaurant announced via social media on March 14 it was making its next move.

“Throughout this journey, filled with its ups and downs, cold nights and warm days, we have been fortunate to serve amazing customers, both familiar faces and new ones. Your unwavering love and support have meant the world to us,” the Facebook post reads. “While we won’t be venturing far, we’re thrilled to offer our customers a larger space to enjoy.”

The move signals more square footage and indoor seating for customers, as well as a fenced-in patio for comfortable outdoor seating. Though still on Water Street, the new location sees much more foot traffic: It’s across the street from The Goat Coffee House and The Joynt, and shares a parking lot with neighbors Saxy Salon and Anytime Fitness.

California Tacos is known for mouthwatering birria specials, including its popular birria ramen and birria pizza, among others. Folks will still be able to enjoy all of their favorites, plus alcoholic beverages, once it makes its move.

The eatery will be closed from March 20-21 and be open at its new location from 9am-10pm on March 22, inviting customers to pre-order by calling (715) 514-1172, order through its website, and of course, visit in person to see its new digs. Keep up with California Tacos on Facebook.
