Eau Clairians: The wait is over. Local entertainment venue, The Metro (201 E Lake St., Eau Claire) will be opening and hosting events once again for the first time since early 2020. Them Coulee Boys will be the first to rock its stage again, with their show slated for Saturday, March 30, 7-10:30pm.
In February 2020, a kitchen fire forced The Metro to close its doors, and it stay closed through the pandemic. In January 2023, owner Benny Haas had to surrender the venue’s Class B liquor license to the City of Eau Claire after missing the Jan. 3 opening deadline agreement. At the time, that liquor license was granted to The Good Wives restaurant.
Owners of The Metro were still able to reapply for the Class B license, and they did. Haas secured a Combination Class B Intoxicating Liquor and Fermented Malt Beverage license on Oct. 10, allowing The Metro to serve beer and other alcoholic beverages come opening day.
Tickets are on sale now for the March 30 Them Coulee Boys show, and can be purchased at volumeonetickets.org.
This is a developing story, more information about The Metro’s reopening and future events to come.
