As you start to get older and your Saturday evenings start to look more like movie nights and less like bar crawling on Water Street, you may think that there are no more hype songs out there for you – but you’d be wrong. Local Tyler Baumgart, known musically as TeawhYB, has released a song about this exact feeling.

“I Don’t Wanna Hit the Club” is a fast-paced, pop and hip-hop hybrid that TeawhYB released on April 5, which he ironically describes as a “club banger about not wanting to go to the club.”

“The older I get, the more content I am with staying home,” he said. “But at the same time, it talks a lot about the fear of missing out and peer pressure from friends.” This idea shines through in the chorus, where he sings, “I don’t wanna hit the club tonight, but we might have to.”

“I’m so proud of this song. ... It’s very fun, it’s very casual and quirky, but I feel like I emphasize my singing, rapping, and writing abilities.”

The song has been in the works for the last six months and was produced by Sean Sison, a singwriter, singer, and producer from Milwaukee. Sison has worked with other popular rap artists Tyla Yaweh, Trippie Redd, and Morray.

“I’m so proud of this song,” TeawhYB said. “I know people say that all the time, but this song just represents me. It’s very fun, it’s very casual and quirky, but I feel like I emphasize my singing, rapping, and writing abilities.”

With the release of the song, TeawhYB has also recently been part of several cool things – his song “Linger” was part of the MLB The Show’s 2023 video game and he’s performed across the country for Twin Cities Pride, Queerchella (NY), and the California State Fair. You can see TeawhYB perform this summer at Volume One’s Sounds Like Summer Concert Series on Thursday, June 20.
